Our Wines
Old Red Vine Lot #51
Appellation: California
Winemaker: Chris Bilbro
Released: January2010
Lot 51 is the latest release of Old Vine Red, our trademark blend that was first released almost 30 years ago in the early days of Marietta. Due to Dad's remarkable ability to maintain such high levels of both consistency and quality, the demand for Old Vine Red has steadily grown since Lot 1.  Lot 51 carries on the tradition in stride with loads of ripe berry and peppery spice as well as hints of dried cherries and dusty herbs that add to the complexity. The color is deep ruby and purple, and the mouthfeel is forward, dense, and pleasantly rustic and ripe in a Zin-like style. As always, this lot will not last long, but those who grab a bottle or two will be sure to enjoy it as many have with the preceding 50 lots.

Grape Source: Primarily Sonoma and Mendocino Counties
Color: Dark Ruby Purple

2007 Zinfandel
Appellation: Alexander Valley
Owner/Winemaker: Chris Bilbro
Release date: January 2009

The 2007 Zinfandel was a light cropped small berried year, producing great ripe grape flavored wines exhibiting dense, solid black fruited aromas. A sharp core of berry fruit drives this full bodied, focused, blackberry flavored zin with a long finish. This wine will integrate its components and come to full show in 3-5 years.

Grape Source: Alexander Valley, (Sonoma County)

2006 Cabernet Sauvignon
Appellation: Alexander Valley
Winemaker: Chris Bilbro
Released: July 2009

Cassis, graphite, currant, blackberry and toasty oak flavors and aromas abound in this elegant, seamless and lush offering. The flavors float on the palate like velvet and the mild fruit tannins on the finish promise some extended aging potential. While hard to resist drinking now, this wine from a vintage of lush early maturing wines should last 5-8 years.

2006 Petite Sirah
Appellation: California
Winemaker: Chris Bilbro
Released: July 2009

The 2006 Petite Sirah is 100% Alexander Valley appellation and 100% estate grown. In addition to the 76% Petite Sirah, this blend is comprised of 22% Syrah and 2% Viognier.

Almost opaque in color, the 2006 Petite Sirah exhibits a broad, rich nose of blueberries, sweet toasty oak, and mineral notes. It is abundantly lush, mouth-filling, and weighty on the palate. Typical of the vintage, it exhibits broad, fruit-forward flavors with pleasing fruit tannins. This wine begs for rich grilled or barbeque pork or beef.

2005 Angeli Cuvee
Appellation: Alexander Valley
Winemaker: Chris Bilbro
Released: April 2009

If this wine were any denser it would be a solid. Almost black in color, there is a deep nose of graphite, charcoal, and ripe black fruit as well as a layered brooding dark fruit mixture, with vanilla and toasty oak overtones.

This wine will pay great dividends to cellar time and will last up to and improve over the next 15 years.

Oak aging: 18 months, primarily French oak
Aging potential: up to 15 years
2004 Emilia’s Cuvée
Appellation: Mendocino
Owner/Winemaker: Chris Bilbro
Released: December 1, 2006

Montepulciano is a very late ripener, usually picked here in early November. The 2004 ripened earlier and the sugars were higher. The wine is all around bigger and rounder with a richer mouth and feel. Aromas are curiously similar to the leaner, elegant 2003, earth, tar, licorice and dried herbs. The 2004 Emilia’s Cuvée is broad, dense and lush, a bit jammy on the palate, and the flavors hang to a lengthy finish.

Grape Source: Mendocino (Mendocino County) California
Color: Medium Red Ruby
Oak Aging: Seasoned French
Aging Potential: 3-5 years
Port Lot Three
Continuing to follow in the footsteps of Old Vine Red, our port is periodically released in limited quantities in a non-vintage fashion designated by lot numbers, so as to allow for a highly consistent product.  Lot 3 is a limited production blend of Touriga, Souzao, Tinta Cao, and 30% Zinfandel.  Aged in new and seasoned French Oak, it is not as sweet as traditional Portuguese styles, although it unquestionably has an emphasis on ripe, rich fruit complemented by a hint of vanilla and oak.
