Old Vine Red Lot #38
Over the past
28 years, we have made 39 different
Lots of Old Vine Red. For you Old Vine buffs, the
first one was actually just called Old Vine Red. When
my dad made the second “batch,” he needed
a way to differentiate between the two so he named
the second release Lot Number 1. Over the years we
have developed quite a reputation for, amongst other
things, a very high level of consistency. There are
always subtle changes between Lots but overall, the
flavor profile is very similar. The direction I’m
going here is that I am frankly running out of new
words and phrases to describe Old Vine Red.
For you consumers
out there who are new to Old Vine Red, it is a proprietary
red wine that is round, smooth, somewhat “Zinfandel-like,”
and noted for its balance, approachability, and consistency.
For you Old Vine Red veterans, Old Vine Red Lot 38
differs from Lot 37 in that there is a slightly higher
percentage of Zinfandel in 38 which always adds to
the dense juicy blackberry flavors.
The best way
that I can describe this wine is that it is my dad’s
favorite wine to make and on the whole what he drinks
most. It is a versatile, everyday, bottle of wine
that we are very happy that many people out there
seem to like -otherwise my dad would have a lot of
drinking to do.
