2003 Emilia's Cuvée
Appellation:
Mendocino
Owner/Winemaker: Chris Bilbro
Released September 1, 2005
Emilia’s Cuvee is a blend
of Monetpulciano and Negro Amaro named after my mother
and made in tribute to my parents. It is a completely
different style of wine than anything I have made
prior and I am very excited about it. Complex earthy
aromas of wild game, anise, dried herbs and tar contrast
with intriguingly delicate floral notes. Flavors
of earth, tar, licorice, forest floor and dried herbs
lead to a long lingering fruit finish with a balanced
tannic grip. This wine opens up and develops incredibly
with a bit of airing. Great when paired with food,
this is an incredibly unique and elegant wine to
swirl, sip, and ponder.
